Saint Mary's defeated Montana in a 1-0 victory on Sunday after Anna Parker scored the lone goal of the match.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's outlasted Montana in a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon as Anna Parker scored the game-winning goal to help improve the Gaels to a 5-4 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Anna Parker gave the Gaels the lead in the 54th minute as she scored the first goal of the game which was also her first tally of the season. Malia Allison launched a corner kick to Jaylen Crim who then headed the ball straight to Parker's feet which allowed her to strike the ball past the goalie into the right corner of the net.
Maleah Milner was only forced to make three saves in to earn her second straight shutout in goal. Milner recorded her best save of the game when a Grizzlies' defender tried to head the ball into the goal off a corner kick but Milner caught the ball to prevent the defender from scoring in the 74th minute.
The Gaels had a productive offense during the game as they outshot the Grizzlies 13-7 with three of their shots coming from Isabella Santavicca. SMC posted six corner kicks while forcing the Montana goalie to make six saves.
Saint Mary's kept a steady pace through the first half of the contest as they held Montana to five shots while putting up five shots of their own. The Gaels had two close scoring opportunities including one from Paris Fox when she was fed the ball from the right corner and sent it to the center of the net but it was saved by the Montana goalie.
