WSOC | Gaels Travel to Davis for Last Non-Conference Matchup

Saint Mary's will face off against the Aggies on Friday at 2 p.m. for their last non-conference contest of the season.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's will hit the road this weekend for a road match against UC Davis on Friday at 2 p.m.
The Gaels are coming off two straight shutouts as they defeated both Portland State and Montana in a 1-0 decision last week. With the wins, Saint Mary's improves their record to 5-4 with a perfect 5-0 record at home.
In the match against Portland State, Vanessa Gaitan sealed the win with her first goal of the season when she received a pass from Sophie Santos for a solid shot into the left side of the net. Gaitan recorded five of the Gaels' 18 total shots during the contest.
Anna Parker scored the game-winning goal against Montana on Sunday after she notched the ball past the goalie off a pass from Jaylen Crim to score into the right side of the frame. In the same matchup, Maleah Milner was only forced to make three saves while the Gaels pushed six on Montana's goalie.
ABOUT UC DAVIS
The Aggies own a 5-3 record so far this season as they head into Friday's contest. In their last time out, UC Davis picked up a 1-0 victory over Nevada for their third shutout of the year. During the matchup, forward Janae Gonzalez scored the lone goal off a penalty kick to secure the win for the Aggies.
Casey Palmer and Leslie Fregoso both lead the team in two categories as they have each tallied three goals and 16 shots this season. Fregoso has started in all eight matches for the Aggies while Palmer has made six different appearances.
Goalie Nicki Rucki has recorded two shutouts this year while collecting 19 saves in six game appearances.
The Gaels are 12-2-1 all-time against UC Davis and have completed back-to-back shutouts over the Aggies in the last two years. Saint Mary's has only given up one loss to UC Davis in the team's last 13 meetings.
