GOLF | Two Gaels Head to Fresno for Nick Watney Invite

Saint Mary's will send two individuals to compete at the Nick Watney Invitational.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's returns to the course tomorrow to compete in the Nick Watney Invitational at Fort Washington Country Club in Fresno.

THE LINEUP
Head coach Scott Hardy will be sending just two competitors as individuals to play in the tournament: Evan Peterson and Dylan VanderVeer.

It will be the duo's second tournament of the season after competing at the Husky Individual two weeks ago.

THE FIELD
Competing in the tournament are BYU, Cal Poly, CBU, CSUN, the host Fresno State, Gonzaga, Long Beach State, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Jose State, Seattle, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and UC Santa Barbara.

Pepperdine, like Saint Mary's, is also sending individuals to compete.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's jumped one spot in the standings on the final day of the Inverness Intercollegiate to wrap up their second tournament of the season tied for 10th.

Leading the charge for the Gaels for the second time this year was Ash Hakim who placed t-25th out of 90 golfers. Hakim finished 6-over on the tournament and was followed closely by Ethan Farnam at 7-over. Michael Slesinski ended play at 12-over while Blake Hathcoat and Ryan Grauman rounded out the lineup at 15-over.
