

GOLF | Saint Mary's Looks For Another Strong Finish at Lamkin Grips

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's returns to the course tomorrow morning for the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in Chula Vista, Calif. held at San Diego Country Club. The two-day tournament will see the first two rounds played on Monday and the final round on Tuesday in a shotgun start format beginning at 8:15 and 8:30 a.m., respectively.
The Gaels will look to continue their recent success at the course after finishing third in the event last season.

Saint Mary's will roll out a new look lineup as follows: Ryan Grauman, Ethan Farnam, Blake Hathcoat, Michael Slesinski, and Dylan VanderVeer.

The talent-loaded field consists of nine teams ranked in the top-50 according to Golfstat: No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 11 Arizona, No. 18 BYU, No. 19 Colorado State, No. 28 San Diego State, No. 33 California, No. 37 Tennessee, and No. 42 Ole Miss.
Also competing alongside the Gaels is the host San Diego, UC Davis, Sam Houston State, Santa Clara, Air Force, Long Beach State, San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, and Colorado.
Saint Mary's is currently listed at No. 66 in the country.
LAST TIME AT LAMKIN GRIPS
Saint Mary's had one of their best performances of the 2018-19 season at San Diego Country Club as they finished third overall. The Gaels bested four ranked teams in the event and had a slew of top finishers.
Blake Hathcoat tied for first in the 92-man field for his best career finish while Michael Slesinski also grabbed a top-10 spot as he tied for eight. Ethan Ashbrook supported the effort by ending up t-18th and Ethan Farnam was the fourth Gael to finish in the top half of the field at t-38th.
LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's finished tied for seventh in a talented 21-team field at the John Burns Intercollegiate held at Wailua Golf Course. SMC shot 9-under in the final round, a 15-stroke improvement over their previous round.
Michael Slesinski posted a top-10 finish as he ended up t-7th at 4-under overall. The redshirt junior was 3-under overall on Saturday including a 2-under showing on the front nine. Ash Hakim also shot 3-under in the final round for his best 18 holes of the tournament.
Blath Hathcoat finished t-30th after shooting 2-under on Saturday and was 1-over overall. Ethan Farnam was 6-over in the tournament and Dylan VanderVeer was 7-over.
Saint Mary's tied with No. 28 Cal and No. 6 Arizona. SMC bested one ranked team, No. 14 North Carolina, who finished 11th.
