WBB | Wedin Shoots her Way to WCC Player of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Saint Mary's Women's Basketball picked up their first two conference wins of the season last weekend, and Taycee Wedin was instrumental in those wins. As a result of her best shooting performance of the season (and possibly her career), Wedin has been named the UCU WCC Player of the Week for her performances on Thursday and Saturday.

The Junior guard was on fire this past week for Saint Mary's as they picked up their first two conference wins of the season. Wedin put up 35 points over the two wins against Pepperdine and LMU. Her 11 points in Thursday's win came on 3-6 from beyond the arc, and she tied a career-best in that game with six rebounds.

In Saturday's win, Wedin tied a career-best with 24 points on 6-12 from three-point range (again, tying a career-best), with 18 of those points in the second half. Wedin shot an even 50% from the floor and from three-point range (with nine made triples) with eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and a steal for her best week of the season.

This marks the first time during the 2020-21 season that Saint Mary's has earned a Player of the Week honor and the first time in over a year, when Wedin also won the honors on January 6, 2020 (the Gaels also beat Pepperdine and LMU that week).

Wedin ranks among the best in the NCAA in terms of three-pointers made (12th), three-pointers per game (27th), and three-point field goal percentage (57th, best in the WCC). Wedin now sits third all-time in Gaels history in made three-pointers, and is on pace to set the career mark before her time as a Gael is finished.
