CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Saint Mary's maintained their position in the third day of competition at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic held at San Diego Country Club to finish 14th out of 20 teams. The Gaels shot their lowest team score of the tournament at 8-over on Wednesday. 

THE LEADERBOARD
For the third time in as many days, Blake Hathcoat led the team's efforts and posted an even score across the final 18 holes to finish even overall. The senior completed the event tied for 8th for his second straight top-10 finish and third top-10 this year. 

Michael Slesinski and Ethan Farnam each posted their best rounds of the event with 1-over totals to finish 9-over and 11-over, respectively. Dylan VanderVeer counted his score by shooting 6-over while Ethan Ashbrook rounded out the lineup at 8-over. 

UCLA fended off the rest of the pack to win the tournament at 4-over. The Bruins were the only team to finish the event in single digits. Nevada placed second at 10-over while Washington grabbed third at 11-over. 

UCLA's Devin Bling finished first on the medalist leaderboard just four strokes ahead of Hathcoat. Only seven competitors in the 112-man field completed the tournament under par.

FINAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS

• Hathcoat scored three birdies from holes 17 to 2. 
• All five Gaels birdied hole 14 on Wednesday. 
• Farnam and Slesinski each posted back-to-back birds on 14th and 15th.
• Farnam tied for fifth in the tourney on hole 3 scores at even. 
• Hathcoat led the team with 12 birdies in the tournament.
