GOLF | Gaels in Top-5 After Two Rounds at Redhawk Invite

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — After having just a one day break following play at The Goodwin, Saint Mary's golf took to Chambers Bay Golf Course on Monday for the first two rounds of the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Seattle. After 36 holes, SMC is tied for fifth in the 15-team field with one round to play on Tuesday.
THE LEADERBOARD
Four Gaels finished the second round within the top half of the 88-competitor field. Ethan Farnam and Evan Peterson are both 1-under and tied for 11th to lead the team's efforts. Peterson was 3-under in the middle round while Farnam shot 2-under in the round to pull their total scores below par.
Blake Hathcoat and Michael Slesinski are each 3-over and tied for 36th going into the final round. The two Gaels also improved their scores from the first round by shooting even and 1-under, respectively.
Rounding out SMC's scores are Ethan Ashbrook and Dylan De Prosperis who are both 6-over. De Prosperis is competing as the team's individual.
As a team, the Gaels are 2-over par and sit tied on the leaderboard with Boise State. Saint Mary's played significantly better in the afternoon round and improved by 14 strokes among their counting scores.
San Francisco leads all teams in the tourney after catching fire in the second round and are 20-under as a team. USF is 12 strokes ahead of the current runner-up Washington going into Tuesday. The Dons' Matthew Anderson is atop the medalist leaderboard at 7-under while his teammate Soren Lind is in second place just a stroke back.

FIRST AND SECOND ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
The third and final round of the Redhawk Invitational begins tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. SMC will begin play on holes 5 through 9.
