SAN FRANCISCO — Saint Mary's scored twice in the second half in Tuesday's match against San Francisco to pick up their second conference win of the season by a 2-0 final.
After going into the half tied nil-nil, the Gaels broke through in the 70th minute thanks to Maya Alcantara's first goal of the season. Senior Malia Allison picked up an assist on the score that would prove to be the game-winner.
SMC wasn't done yet however as they scored again just over seven minutes later in the 77th. Emily Jensen tallied her second goal of the year to all but ice the win for Saint Mary's late in the game.
The Gaels' offense found their rhythm in the second half of play as in addition to the two goals, SMC outshot USF 9-6 in the period and held the edge in corners as well, 5-3. Saint Mary's finished the match with 11 shots and eight coming on goal. AnnaMaria DiGeronimo and Kyllie Glock each took three shots in the match.
