MORAGA, Calif. — In the final game of the regular season, the Gaels put on arguably their best showing of the year by dominating Loyola Marymount 3-0 in front of their home crowd. With the win, Saint Mary's improved to 4-3-2 in West Coast Conference action and 4-4-3 overall.

Saturday's win marks a huge step forward for the women's soccer program as it's the team's best conference finish since the 2003 season and first time since 2001 that SMC has won four or more conference matches. The Gaels' 4-4-3 overall record is also the program's best performance since 2011.

"I'm so proud of this team," said first year head coach Theresa Romagnolo. "It's been such a privilege to coach these amazing committed women and watch them set new standards for this program."

Emily Jensen put the Gaels on the board in the 31st minute. After the Gaels sent an airborne pass into the box, Nayeli Diaz collected a deflection and tapped it to Jensen who's shot found the low-left corner of the net. The score proved to be the game-winner as Saint Mary's defense shut the door on LMU for the remainder of the match.

Jensen wasn't done yet however as she doubled SMC's lead minutes into the second half. A Lions' turnover produced a counte-rattack for the Gaels with Kyllie Glock sprinting with the ball down the middle of the pitch. Glock connected with Jensen on a quick through ball and the sophomore beat the goalkeeper with her left foot for her second goal of the day.

Minutes later, AnnaMaria DiGeronimo decided to get in on the fun and launched a missile from outside the penalty box. The senior punished LMU's defense for giving her too much real estate to work with and found the upper left corner from 20 yards out for her first goal of the season.

SMC's defense also put on a clinic in the match by holding Loyola Marymount to just seven shots and zero shots on goal. The Gaels had 11 shot attempts of their own and took more corner kicks than LMU, 5-1.

Prior to the contest, Saint Mary's honored Lydia Buggs as part of Senior Day festivities. The defender started all 11 matches for the team this season.
