WSOC | Emily Jensen Named WCC Offensive Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. — Emily Jensen has been named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her two-goal effort against Loyola Marymount on Saturday.

Jensen shined in the Gaels' final game of the regular season match - a 3-0 win over the Lions. The sophomore scored the first goal of the match, which would ultimately prove to be the game-winner, after receiving a short pass from her teammate Nayeli Diaz and burying it to the low left side in the 31st minute.

Minutes into the second half, Jensen struck again by accepting a through ball in the box after sneaking through the Lions' backline and finished with her left foot for her team-leading fourth goal of the year.

With the win, Saint Mary's posted their best conference record since the 2003 season and most WCC wins since 2001 under first-year head coach Theresa Romagnolo. The Gaels went 4-4-3 in the abbreviated 2020-21 season and 4-3-2 in league play. SMC finished fifth in the conference after placing ninth in 2019.
