SAN MATEO, Calif. — For the second consecutive year, three Gaels from the Women's Basketball team have landed on the WCC All-Academic Team. Just announced by the conference in the first wave of their All-Academic teams from the 2020-21 season,
Jordyn Boesel,
Jade Kirisome, and
Brianna Simonich have all landed honorable mentions from the WCC, the first time that all three have earned this honor.
Â
Jordyn Boesel lands on the list as one of the two seniors to make it for the Gaels, owner of a 3.24 GPA as a Business Administration major. She played in 24 games this season for Saint Mary's, while also making her first two starts later in the season. She picked up several memorable moments along the way, including a 17-point performance in which she knocked down five three-points in her first collegiate start. For the year, she averaged 3.6 points per game and shot 42.3% from the floor.
Â
Jade Kirisome enjoyed a lot of success in her first season playing for the Gaels, becoming just one of two Gaels to start every contest. She was the second-best shooter for SMC from beyond the arc, hitting 30 threes on the year, helping her score 10 or more points in four of her first five games. She averaged 7.8 points per game for the season and nearly averaged three rebounds per game in addition. The redshirt sophomore has a 3.67 GPA as a Business Administration major.
Â
Brianna Simonich did just about everything on offense and defense this year for the Gaels, so it's no surprise that the Business Administration major makes the list with a 3.33 GPA. Simonich was the other Gael to start every game this year, and put up career numbers across the board, with eight rebounds per game, 66 assists, 44 steals, and 13 blocks. Her rebounding total was the fourth-best in the conference, and her steals total put her at sixth. Simonich recorded her first collegiate double-double this past year, in the Gaels home opener against Nevada.
