MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Women's Soccer enter the third week of their season unbeaten after four matches. For the first time since 2010, the Gaels moved to 3-0 after a comeback win over San Diego State last week before fighting to the bitter end of double over time to force Cal to a 1-1 draw. They will look to extend their impressive start this week as they take on UC Riverside at home of Friday before traveling to play Fresno State on Sunday.Â

LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels continued their unbeaten run to begin the new season, rising to 3-0 when they took down the San Diego State Aztecs 2-1 with some late heroics. In the closing stages of the first half, the Gaels fell behind to Denise Castro's tidy finish. A straight red card for the Aztecs' Hope Paredes changed the flow of the game and just seven minutes later the Gaels drew level when
Alexis Gutierrez turned on the jets to tuck the ball in the bottom corner. A soft touch by
Isabella Santavicca in the 84th minute was enough to seal the victory for the home side.Â
The Gaels were back in action just two days later when they hit the road to take on Cal. Despite losing two starters during the game, one to an injury, another via a red card, the Gaels took the Golden Bears the distance, forcing double overtime to eventually draw 1-1.
Taylour Mendoza put the Gaels ahead in the 55th minute, but the player disadvantage saw Cal fight back to draw level through Amaya Grey in the 83rd minute. Cal had chances to win in overtime, but the Gaels held strong to remain unbeaten.Â
ABOUT UC RIVERSIDE
The Highlanders travel to Saint Mary's Stadium off the back of their first defeat of the season, which came at the hands of Pepperdine in a 4-1 loss. They looked to continue an impressive offense, scoring just six minutes into the game against the Waves, having already scored five goals in the previous two matches. However, a leaky defense proved to be a problem in the second half as the Highlanders conceded their sixth goal in their opening three games of the season.Â
ABOUT FRESNO STATE
The Bulldogs are off to a 1-2 start, picking up their first win of the season in a 1-0 victory over CSU Bakersfield last week. It was a welcome clean sheet for Fresno who opened their season with a 5-0 loss to Oregon before a 2-1 defeat to Oregon State three days later. Senior Jordan Brown scored the winning goal against the Roadrunners, as the Bulldogs out-shot their opponents 16-4. Fresno will travel to Stockton to face Pacific on Friday night, before opening their home opener against the Gaels on Sunday.Â
