MSOC | Regular Season Concludes With 1-1 Tie at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Soccer closed out the season with a 1-1 tie at Santa Clara to finish third in the WCC, after ending the season at 7-6-5 overall and 2-1-4 in conference play in 2022.

It's the 12th year in a row they've finished in the upper half of the conference, and it's the 14th time overall the Gaels have finished in the top half under Head Coach Adam Cooper.

Saint Mary's fThe Gaels fell behind early after a great feed to a header in the six-yard box made it 1-0 Broncos in the 32nd minute.

But it wouldn't take long to equalize, as less than 10 minutes later, Jude Zamora scored his first goal of the season on a feed from Greg Brighton to tie the game in the 41st minute, on Brighton's third assist of the season.

Saint Mary's took 12 shots on the night and six on goal, including one by Jack Vestberg on who missed just high in the 67th minute after a feed from Riley Lynch.

It looked like Santa Clara had gone ahead in the 78th minute, but the goal disallowed after Luke Lawrence was clearly fouled in the box on a header attempt.

Keeper Kash Oladapo collected five saves on the night, including an early test in the sixth minute after a cross into the six-yard box.
