LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels peppered the Zags with 14 shots on the day, after putting 15 shots on the Pacific Tigers and 13 shots against USF in their previous two games. Gonzaga had 7 shots and
Kash Oladapo had to make a spectacular save in each half at close range to preserve the shut out.
Â
But SMC had the best scoring opportunities of the day, including a shot by freshman
Luke Lawrence from just outside the penalty area that clanged off the corner of the goal with the crossbar meets the post in the 23rd minute.
Â
The Gaels came out firing in the second half with a flurry of shots in the first 15 minutes of the half, with six shots alone in that span creating more golden opportunities that they barely missed.
Riley Lynch had a pair of shots miss wide by inches in the 49th and 54th minute, and in between
Bastian Toelhoej had a wide-open net but shot wide left in the 50th minute.

ABOUT LMU
The WCC coaches picked the Lions to finish fourth overall in the preseason poll, which is where they currently stand. Two Lions players were selected to the WCC Preseason Team,
Noel Caliskan and
Dylan Shockey.
Â
Caliskan was named the WCC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year in 2021. The German international scored three times last season and assisted on four more for a team leading 10 points. Caliskan also garnered other honors including WCC Midfielder of the Year and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team, and this year was named to the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Â
The Gaels are 25-18-3 all time against the Lions. LMU has won two straight, after SMC took three in a row before that.
