SALINAS, Calif. – Saint Mary's Track is reaching a near end to their 2022 season. With just two meets left, along with the possibility of competing in the NCAA Championships, Saint Mary's Track hopes to end the season on a high note. This upcoming weekend, Hartnell College will be hosting the Central Coast Open in Salinas, Calif. Only the men will be participating in this meet, which was added to the schedule last week.

Saint Mary's Men's Track competed in the Johnny Mathis Invitational in The City last weekend, where the team especially stood out in the 1500m. Blaine Reynolds finished at the top of the pack for the Gaels with his time of 3:58.87. His hard earned time is recorded as his first 1500m time in less than four minutes within his collegiate career, granting him fifth overall. 17 total Gaels ran the 1500m, with 10 of those 17 finishing inside the top-10 overall Two Gaels scored wins in their respective heats of the 1500m:
Thomas Osborne (4:04.37 in heat five) and
Luke Bland (4:16.21 in heat three).
Anthony Vazquez (4:00.97),
Curtis Volf (4:01.55), and
Derek D'Amelia (4:03.01) all earned points for the Gaels.
Raphael Lobo was the lone other male Gael to race on Saturday, and he ran in the 800m. His time of 2:09.11 was a personal best, and it was enough to win the first heat of the 800m by nearly two seconds.
