FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Saint Mary's men's track and field athlete Oisin Spillane closed out an extremely successful season after competing in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase in the national quarterfinals at the NCAA West First Round on Friday.
After becoming the first Gael to qualify for the NCAA West First Round since 2017, Spillane finished with a time of 9:08.03 amongst some of the best collegiate steeplechase athletes in the nation.
Spillane earned his spot at the regional meet following a program record-breaking performance that he set at the Oregon Twilight back in early May, where he clocked a time of 8:41.87 to break his own 3000-meter steeplechase program record.
The appearance closed a strong season for Spillane and the Gaels, who will look to carry the momentum into the 2026-2027 season.
