LAST TIME OUT
The Sacramento State Hornets went ahead in the sixth inning on Tuesday afternoon and hung on for an 8-6 win to split the season series with the Gaels.
Â
The Gaels were leading 2-1 before the Hornets put up four runs in the sixth. Gunnar Gouldsmith tripled center to clear the bases and put Sac State up 4-2.
Â
In the bottom of the inning
Chris Santiago singled and
Blake McDonald walked before the Gaels executed a delayed double steal with Santiago and
Trey Winget who pinch ran for McDonald. Mistone walked to load the bases and
Riley Lamb singled to left to drive in a pair and SMC cut the Hornets lead back to one at 5-4.
Â
However, the Hornets extended their lead with another crooked number in the seventh to make it 8-4 Sac State. The Gaels would cut it to two on
Blake Mann's first home run of the season to drive in Mistone who extended his hit streak to seven games and make it an 8-6 deficit.
Seth Nager would single and steal second but the Hornets would get a ground out to end the threat.

Â
ABOUT NEVADA
The Gaels will be looking to avenge their 13-3 loss to the Wolfpack on a windy day in Reno, Nev. The Wolfpack racked up 17 hits in that game to just four for the Gaels.
Â
Nevada dropped two of three in a Mountain West series at San José State last weekend, falling 9-2 in Sunday's rubber game.
Cam Walty picked up the lone win for the Wolf Pack over the weekend, putting together a second-straight strong outing in which he went seven innings, striking out six and holding the Spartans to three runs on six hits.
The Pack nearly took Friday's opener, coming back from down three to take a 5-4 lead after a four-run sixth innings. But San José State scored twice on the Pack bullpen in the seventh to take the 6-5 lead, and went on to the win from there.
