SB | Ferguson Joins SMC as Newest Recruit

MORAGA, Calif. — The roster for the 2023 softball season continues to take shape for Saint Mary's, as the Gaels have announced their latest recruit for the upcoming year. As announced on Friday by head coach Sonja Garnett, the Gaels are excited to welcome Hannah Ferguson to the Saint Mary's family.
A native of San Diego, Ferguson joins the Gaels as a recent graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in 2022. Standing at 5'7", Ferguson roams the outfield and put up elite numbers during her final season of high school. She hit .566 on the season, with 56 hits and 37 runs scored. She was on base a lot, reaching base safely at a .616 clip, and was always a threat to run, stealing 14 bases.
Ferguson was the captain of the Sun Devils during her junior and senior seasons, and racked up the awards during the same time span. She was a two-time Outstanding Offensive Player award winner, including being named the team MVP in 2022, and also made first team All-Palomar League as a junior and senior.
"Hannah is a savvy outfielder and is going to be a great addition with her speed and ability at the plate," noted coach Garnett. "Hannah is a lefty slapper who fits in nicely to our program and is a dedicated student."
