MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Soccer's incoming group of freshman and transfers includes 16 student-athletes who will be reporting to Moraga for the first time this fall, consisting of 12 first-year students and four transfers.
Here is a brief rundown on each Gael newcomer….
Jack Landreth | GK | 6'3 | Todd Beamer High School | Federal Way, Washington
Landreth joins the Gaels as a transfer from Cal State East Bay. During his only season with the Pioneers, he appeared in eight games, recording a total of 44 saves with a 0.710 save percentage.
During his free time, Landreth loves to golf and spend time with his family. His favorite athlete is Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and he was drawn to Saint Mary's because of the great campus environment.
Dewa Sanjaya | GK | 6'2 | Albany High School | Albany, CA & Bali, Indonesia
Another freshman keeper joining the Gaels program this fall is Dewa (pronounced Doh-day) Sanjaya. As a kid, Sanjaya grew up spending time in both California and Bali, Indonesia. During his four years as a starter at Albany High School, he averaged .8 goals conceded and had 16 total shutouts.
Saint Mary's appealed to Sanjaya because of the campus' small size and its proximity to his hometown of Albany.
Nick Strangio | Defense | 6'4 | Jesuit High School | Folsom, California
One of the Gaels defensive additions this fall is center back
Nick Strangio. The Jesuit High School product earned numerous accolades during his time as a Marauder, including ECNL All League First Team and California State Player of the Year.
A fun fact about Strangio is that he's been playing soccer since he was two. He said Saint Mary's appealed to him because of the proximity to home and promising Gaels squad.
Omar Yehya | Forward | 5-10 | Redlands High School | Redlands, California
Joining the Gaels from Cal State Fullerton this fall is
Omar Yehya. The forward from Redlands, California played in seven games for the Titans last year. During his four years at Redlands High School, he tallied a total of 51 goals and 24 assists. He was awarded Redlands High School MVP twice, and made the First Team all Citrus Belt League twice as well.
A fun fact about Omar is that he is the fourth athlete in his family to play athletics in college, and during high school he also loved to run track and field.
Luke Lawrence | Defense | 5-11 | Scottsdale Christian Academy | Scottsdale, Arizona
Another Arizona native joining the Gaels is
Luke Lawrence, who plays as a left-sided center back or wing back. Lawrence has played for a handful of different clubs, including ASU Prep Academy and FC Tucson. Notably, he spent the 2019-20 season with the Barcelona Residency Academy, where he recorded 16 assists and three goals with the U-18/19 team.
Some of Lawrence's hobbies include spending time with his family, golf, cooking, and listening to music. He was drawn to Saint Mary's because of the coaching staff and beautiful campus.
Maxwell Farnum | Forward/Midfield | 5-11 | Pioneer High School | San Jose, California
Coming from just south of Saint Mary's is freshman winger Max Farnum. The Pioneer High School grad enjoys snowboarding and skateboarding in his free time, and loves to visit Santa Cruz whenever he's at home.
Saint Mary's appealed to Farnum because of the small school size and ability to play soccer close to home.
Bastian Toelhoej | Midfield | 6-3 | Copenhagen, Denmark | Lyngby
Another freshman joining the Gaels this fall is Bastian Toelhøj, a versatile midfielder hailing from Copenhagen. Prior to Saint Mary's Toelhøj played handball and tennis along with soccer. Bastian said he was drawn to the location of Saint Mary's, as well as the ambitions of the soccer program.
Gaige Gibbs | Defense/Midfield | 5'10 | Sandra Day O'Connor High School | Glendale, Arizona
Arizona native
Gaige Gibbs joins the Gaels program this fall as a versatile outside back and winger. During his four years of varsity soccer with the Eagles, he was a 3x ECNL National Finalist, 2019-20 All State First Team, and 2019-20 Conference MVP.
Gibbs has been playing soccer since he was three, and off the pitch, he loves everything fitness. He was drawn to Saint Mary's because of the small campus and the ability to adapt and create personal relationships with professors.
Owen Benson | Forward\Midfield | 5-10 | Archie Williams High School | San Anselmo, California
Bay Area native
Owen Benson is another freshman joining the Gaels this fall. The midfielder/forward spent his freshman year playing soccer abroad in Spain, before returning to Archie Williams High School. During his senior season, Benson scored 29 goals and had five assists while leading the falcons to an NCS win and a second-place finish in NorCal.
The playing style of the soccer team and the small class sizes were just two factors that helped Benson choose Saint Mary's.
Matthias Kuhn | Defense | Alexander-Von-Humboldt School | Vierheim, Germany
Joining the Gaels for his senior season is
Matthias Kuhn, a defenseman that spent his previous three seasons at Mercy College. During his senior season, Kuhn appeared in 15 games, notching seven goals and one assist. He also netted a team high three game winning goals throughout the season. He collected numerous awards during his tenure, including Third Team All American and CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Kuhn was drawn to Saint Mary's for the soccer program and excellent business program.
Adeyemi Oni | Forward | Repton School | London, England
Another England product joining the Gaels this fall is forward
Adeyemi Oni. During his senior season at Repton School, Oni notched 21 goals, good enough for second in the league.
Oni was drawn to Saint Mary's because of the opportunity to excel on the pitch and in the classroom. He felt it was the right environment for him to grow as a person and a footballer.
Wade Muttitt | Midfield | 5-7 | Edgebarrow School | Crowthorne, England
The Crowthorne, England native joins the Gaels this fall after spending last season with Feather River College. During his time with the Golden Eagles, Muttitt logged 20 games, 12 goals, and 10 assists.
A fun fact about Muttitt is that his family is originally from South Africa, and during high school he also participated in judo and track and field. The sports facilities and amazing academic opportunities were two factors that drove Muttitt to Saint Mary's.
Elijah Beverley | Forward | 6'3 | Jesuit High School | Sacramento, California
Sacramento native
Elijah Beverley joins the Gaels this fall after spending last season with Seattle University. During his time at Jesuit High School, Beverley was selected to the All-Regional team. In his junior season, Beverley was named 2020 First Team United Soccer Coaches Boys High School All-American.
A fun fact about Elijah is that is grandfather, Tommy Hart, played in the NFL for 13 seasons.
Fynn Allmon | Forward | 6-2 | Lincoln High School | Seattle, Washington
Allmon joins the Gaels this fall after graduating from Lincoln High School in Seattle, Washington this past spring. During his senior season with the Lynx, the forward notched 16 goals and 14 assists. Allmon was drawn to Saint Mary's because he wanted a college experience where he could excel in his game and also enjoy everything the school has to offer.
Sebastian Ramirez | GK | 5-8 | De La Salle High School | Concord, California
Concord native
Sebastian Ramirez is another talented keeper joining the Gaels this fall. A 2022 graduate of De La Salle High School, the freshman goalkeeper is looking forward to playing soccer so close to home.
