WSOC | Poland Named to College Soccer News Women’s National Team of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. - Taylor Poland has been named to the College Soccer News Women's National Team of the Week for her 10 saves against Gonzaga this past Saturday.
The college soccer news team of the week recognizes players who played a key role in the success their team had during the week.
Poland helped anchor the Gaels to a shutout against the Zags in a 1-0 win. The Bulldogs averaged 3.38 goals per game to lead the nation coming into the match and were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll.
The senior kept the Zags off the board and made three saves for the Gaels in the fourth, ninth, and 11th minute to swing momentum Saint Mary's way to allow them to secure the game winning goal. In the second half Poland made seven big saves for the Gaels as the Bulldogs cranked up the offensive pressure. .
Poland now has 20 career shutouts and a season-high of 10 saves for her third clean sheet of the season. She also is the only SMC women's soccer player to receive this award since September 17, 2012.
