LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels took two out of three against the first-place Portland Pilots, winning game one 6-4 and game two 5-2.
Â
Christian Almanza would drive in the go-ahead runs with a two-run shot to break a 4-4 tie in the seventh.
Owen Cuffe pitched a very efficient top of the seventh to collect his first run of the season, getting around a two-out error in game one.
Â
In game two
Connor Linchey needed just 69 pitches to get through seven innings of one-run ball, allowing just two hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Christian Almanza hit his second two-run homer in as many games, this time to left center to take the team lead with his seventh long ball.
Â
The series finale saw SMC lead most of the way, and even come back when they fell behind in the top of the eighth before the sloppy ninth. Much like last weekend at BYU, three errors would keep the Gaels from sweeping their opponent.
