TRK | Eight Gaels Recognized with All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – After another successful season on the track, eight members of the Saint Mary's Track and Field team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in 2023. 
 
On the women's side, Molly Dreher, Maddie Fletcher, Sofia Cuevas, Rayne Stanziano, and Jaden DeSouza were honored. For the men Blaine Reynolds, Isaiah Jimenez, and Max Barnes received honors.  
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and no student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
 
Dreher finished off her senior season in style, running some of the best collegiate races of her career all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA as a Psychology: Neuroscience major. 
 
Fellow senior Maddie Fletcher had a season to remember as well, specializing in the sprint races for SMC. Fletcher also finished with a 4.0 GPA, majoring in Kinesiology: Exercise Science. 
 
Sofia Cuevas was an inspiration for her entire class, earning one of the school's highest honors: The De La Salle Award. Cuevas graduated with a 3.97 GPA as an Economics major. 
 
Rayna Stanziano had another season to remember for the Gaels, as she snatched numerous victories and broke more records over the course of the XC and track seasons. Stanziano finished her final year with SMC with a 3.93 GPA as an English major.
 
Last but not least for the women was Jaden DeSouza, who continued to improve in her sophomore season at SMC. The heptathlon specialist made significant strides this season and will do so again next spring. DeSouza finished the year with a 3.76 GPA as an Environmental Studies major.
 
On the men's side, Blaine Reynolds lead the way for the Gaels on the track and in the classroom. The junior biology major finished the school year with a 3.89 GPA. 
 
Isaiah Jimenez and Max Barnes were also excellent for SMC all season long, as Jimenez excelled as a Biochemistry major with a 3.86 GPA and Barnes in Politics with a 3.89 GPA. 
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
