Seniors James Watt, Caelan Potts, and Felipe Rincon, along with sophomore Diego Jarry were all named to the Academic All District Team.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and no student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Watt attained a 3.59 GPA in his final year of eligibility, and the economics major was named to the WCC All First Team in 2023, as he was again the Gael at the one position for SMC, taking on every opponent's top player in singles. The six-foot-nine, fifth-year senior repeated as champion of the "A Flight Singles" at the prestigious UCSB Fall Classic in 2023 as well.

The Gaels returned to the WCC Tournament for the first time since 2013 and took Santa Clara down to the wire in a 4-3 loss in the first round.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
