SAN FRANCISCO – Saint Mary's Women's Soccer will be competing in their first conference game of 2023 against University of San Francisco this Saturday night.
SMC has an all-time record of 21-13-2 against USF. They finished out the 2022 season with a 1-0 loss to the Dons in San Francisco at the Negoesco Stadium.

Two weeks ago, the Gaels extended their unbeaten streak to six games with a scoreless tie against UC Santa Barbara. SMC kept pressure on the Gauchos territory, outshooting UC Santa Barbara 10-5.

Emily Jensen all had two attempts against the Gauchos, along with
Isabella Banuelos, made her first collegiate debut playing for the full 90 minutes and had her first block of the season in the 59th minute.

Prior to the season, Dons Marissa Vazquez was named to the WCC Preseason team for the second year in a row, along with teammate Lindsey Chau joining her on the list. In 2022 Vazquez led the USF with seven goals, where she completed a hat trick on the road against Portland. That same year, Chau earned All-WCC Freshman Team honors and All-WCC Honorable mention honors. She also led the Don with four assists and tied for second on the team with four goals.
Recently, the Dons defeated No.13 Santa Clara with a 3-0 win on Thursday night, giving them a 3-5-2 record. During their game against the Broncos, USF scored three goals in just four minutes at the start of the second half.
USF's leading scorer is Sophomore Alex Carpio with four goals and 10 points. Right behind her is Olivia Likrofka with three goals and seven points. Goalkeeper, Kira Ybarra, has made 41 saves this season along with shutouts against Columbia, Chattanooga, and No.13 Santa Clara.
