TRK | Gaels Dominate the Portland Invite

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Saint Mary's Track and Field Team competed in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Invitational Sunday morning with the men finishing tied for second out of six teams and the women placing third out of eight.
The men took up first to fifth place in the Mile where Eric Martinez finished first of 32 runners with a time of 4:21.15. Back to back freshman took up the second and third spots with Alexandro Alvarez trailing Martinez with only 0.97 of a second and Cayden Hein finishing with a time of 4:23.35. The SMC senior, Thomas Osborne, secured fourth place with a time of 4:25.95. In the fifth spot, Diego Uridles, another freshman for the Gaels, finished only 0.91 of a second behind Osborne.
The women competed in the 600m with Lotte Van Schaik placing second with a time of 1:44.07 and Piper Kunesh securing third with a time of 1:45.21. The Gaels then acquired fifth through eighth with Machaela Martin in fifth, Britney Perera in sixth, Emily Field in seventh, and Sophia Kisir in eighth.
Both men and women competed in the 300m where the freshman Spencer Wirshing finished third out of 30 with a time of 37.11 for the men. For the women, Maddie Dwyer took second with a time of 43.20 and Hailey Vines placed eighth with a time of 45.28.
The team will compete next in Spokane, Washington, February 1st to February 3rd.
