MORAGA, Calif. - The Gaels competed in their first home match of the spring season, falling short to San Jose State 4-3.

Saint Mary's took the first doubles with Olivia Rook and Madison Weekley defeating SJSU Seniors Carolina Millan and Jovana Babic 6-1. The Spartans secured the doubles points winning the next two matches against SMC duo Tian Yu Dong and Juliette Daries 2-6, and Stefanie Silva and Sofia Daryaie 4-6.

San Jose State continued to dominate throughout the singles, securing the overall win in just the first three matches. Silva lost to her opponent 4-6, 1-6, Dong fell short to her player 1-6, 5-7, and Iman Khan dropped to her competitor 4-6, 6-2, 2-6.

Although the match was over, the Gaels continued to fight through the last three single matches. Saint Mary's put points up through these singles matches, all going into a third set starting with Rook defeating SJSU Babic 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Daryaie followed by beating Olaya Bances Iglesias 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. The last match to finish was Daries on court 4. She was up against the Spartans Youseva and took her down 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
