LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Baseball swept a double header at the University of San Diego on Friday to open WCC play. The Gaels came away with a pair of one-run victories, both secured in the ninth inning.
Â
Ryan Sanders went 6.1 innings in the Gaels 3-2 win over San Diego to win the series in game two, leaving the game in the seventh with a runner on second that would come in to score after he left. Allowed just three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Â
Brian Duroff had a three-home-run weekend at USD, with one in each game, while going 3 for 9 with three walks. The USD Toreros salvaged a game with a 16-2 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon after the Gaels swept Friday's double header. San Diego took advantage of SMC's sloppiness, as the Gaels committed four errors, issued three balks, and hit six batters.

ABOUT AIR FORCE
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its 2024 Preseason All-America Team, a list that includes Air Force seniors Sam Kulasingam and Jay Thomason. The Falcons duo were each named to the NCBWA's Third Team All-American roster, as the honor serves as Kulasingam's third Preseason All-American endowment while equating to Thomason's first. Kulasingam was also named a Preseason All-American by outlets such as Perfect Game and D1Baseball.
Kulasingam, now the reigning two-time Tony Gwynn Mountain West Player of the Year, slashed a staggering .426/.537/.655 in 59 games to secure consecutive POTY honors.
Kulasingam reached the 100-hit mark yet again in 2023, compiling a program record-tying 28 doubles while producing more than twice as many walks (50) than strikeouts (24).
Â
They were both named to the Mountain West Conference Preseason All-Conference list as well. Air Force was picked to finish in third place in the conference and did receive one first-place vote.
Â
ABOUT GONZAGA
Gonzaga was picked sixth in the West Coast Conference preseason poll. Receiving 37 points, the Bulldogs were just one point shy of sharing a three-way tie for fourth in that poll with Saint Mary's and LMU
Â
GU two-way transfer Jordan Hamberg was ranked 88th on D1 Baseball's Top 100 Outfielders list. Hamberg is one of 14 incoming transfers on Gonzaga's 2024 roster, making his way to GU with former Coppin State teammate Josh Hankins.
Â
Gonzaga's list of new comers also includes 16 freshmen. Hudson Shupe, an in-state native and transfer from Seattle University, batted .333 with 72 hits in his freshman season with the Redhawks. Hailing from Hanford High School in West Richland, Shupe earned a pair of Mid Columbia Conference honors his junior and senior seasons.
