BREMERTON, Wash. — Heading into the third round of the WCC Tournament, the Saint Mary's Gaels needed to protect an eight stroke lead over Pacific to earn a spot in Sunday's finale. Not only did they hold their lead, but instead extended it by two strokes, hanging onto fourth place through 72 holes.
Connor Reis had the best round of any Gael today, shooting a 70 (-2). Reis had a pair of birdies, but also a pair of bogeys on the front nine to collect an E through nine holes. He cleaned it up with a couple more birdies on the back nine but no bogeys for his best round of the tournament. Jack Jerge and Kristian Bressum entered the day tied for second, each at -8, but shot a 71 and 72 respectively in round three, as Jerge now sits tied for fourth, and Bressum sits in sixth overall.
San Diego finished atop the leaderboards and will be the Gaels matchup tomorrow in the match play semifinals starting at 7:30 AM.
