MORAGA, Calif. - On Tuesday, June 4th, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District baseball teams were announced with five Gaels earning the distinction.
Nathan Chong,
Brian Duroff,
Connor Linchey,
Ryan Sanders and
Coleman Schmidt all earned spots on the all-district team having earned at least a 3.50 GPA and acting as significant contributors to their team.
The 2024 Academic All-District Baseball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. While earning a 3.78 GPA and majoring in Physics, senior outfielder
Coleman Schmidt not only earned a spot on the all-district team but advanced as an all-america finalist for his success in the classroom and on the field. Schmidt was named to the WCC First Team and finished the season with a .333 batting average, recording a team high 75 hits and 13 home runs.
Ryan Sanders and
Connor Linchey were the two lone pitchers selected to the all-district team for the Gaels, combining for 36 appearances and over 100 innings pitched on the year. Sanders held an impressive 3.78 GPA as a Communications major and Linchey led all Saint Mary's selections with a perfect 4.00 GPA as a Business Administration student.
Nathan Chong and
Brian Duroff rounded out the selections for Saint Mary's with equally impressive work in the classroom. Chong held a 3.86 GPA as a Business Administration student and Duroff finished the year with a 3.90 GPA majoring in Communications. Chong batted .270 on the year and anchored the DH spot for the Gaels, belting a career high 13 home runs. Duroff played in 53 games and was a near .300 hitter, adding 11 homers of his own and 32 RBI's to earn a WCC Honorable Mention selection.
