GAELS RECAP
Tessa Salvestrin put the team on her back last week as she recorded a hat trick against Tennessee Tech and an assist against Vanderbilt. As a result, she was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week.

Salvestrin scored in the 16th minute of the TTU match as Briana Salvetti recovered a loose ball and crossed it into Salvestrin. Salvestrin leaped into the air to head the ball into the right corner of the net after the Tennessee Tech goalkeeper got a touch but not enough to deny Salvestrin.

Twenty-three seconds into the second half, Savannah Schwarze swooped in after a sloppy pass and Golden Eagles turnover. She passed to Salvetti who launched the ball into the box, giving the perfect pass to Salvestrin for the first time finish. Sydney Middaugh then got in on the action and dribbled into the box and crossed it to the back post to Salvestrin to complete the hat trick.

With Saint Mary's only goal against Vanderbilt, sophomore Middaugh came off the bench with only four minutes on the field and fired the ball into the top left corner of the goal to put the Gaels on the board. Her goal came from the help of Salvestrin and Schwarze and stood as her first of the season.

CSU BAKERSFIELD (Big West Conference)
CSU Bakersfield completed the 2023 season 3-10-4 overall and are looking to improve in this upcoming season. The Roadrunners opened up this season on the road 0-2 against San Diego State and No.17 Texas. They earned their first win this past Sunday as they defeated Weber State 2-1 in a comeback home victory.

Fifth year Megan Ormson and Senior Karen Flores are CSU Bakersfield's top scorers as they were the ones who put the ball in the back of the net against Weber State.

Both goalkeepers for the Roadrunners, Senior Hollee Hercik and Junior Kamy Anaya, have split their time on the field as they both have competed in a full 90 and an additional 45 for a total of 135 minutes. The senior leads the stats as she started in two of the three games recording 16 saves while the junior has a total of eight saves.
