MORAGA, Calif. - On the morning of the Gaels first exhibition game against Cal, the 2024 WCC Preseason Poll was released with Saint Mary's being picked 5th in a tie with conference rival Gonzaga at 52 points. Along with the preseason poll was a list of 12 student-athletes named to the conference Preseason Team and our very own Briana Salvetti earned the honor for the Gaels after leading the team with 10 goals and 6 assists in 2023. As a result, she was named to the All-WCC Second Team and will embark on her third season after starting her SMC career as a true freshman in 2022.   

Head coach Theresa Romagnolo will enter her fifth season as the Gaels head coach and will look to build off of last season's 10-win campaign, the program's second double-digit win total in the last three seasons. Her squad was one of just four teams in the WCC to finish the year with double digit wins as the Gaels were just two wins off the top spot. After finishing in a tie for fourth place with Portland, Saint Mary's will seek their first top three league finish since 2003. 

After the team's lone exhibition game today against Cal, the Gaels will officially kickoff their 2024 season next week with a home matchup against UC Irvine at 5:00 PM.
