MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's soccer has been collecting all the awards in recent weeks and added another as freshman forward Ashlyn Vaughn scored the game-winner in their 1-0 win over LMU on Saturday, earning this week's Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week award. Vaughn was named the department's Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time in her SMC career after scoring her third goal of the season.
She finished the match with 73 minutes played and four shot attempts as the Gaels dominated the Lions and scored in the 58th minute to grab the road win. Vaughn's goal from a near impossible angle received national attention as well as it was named to ESPN SportsCenter's Top-10 plays of the day. Saint Mary's improved to 7-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play and remain unbeaten over their last eight matches for their longest streak since 2001.
