MORAGA, Calif. — The back-to-back outright WCC Regular Season Champion and back-to-back-to-back WCC Regular Season Title Shareholder Saint Mary's Gaels (25-4, 15-1 WCC) will look to finish the regular season with an exclamation point, as they will head to LMU (16-13, 8-9 WCC) for their final road contest of the year, before returning home to face Oregon State (20-9, 10-6 WCC) on Senior Night. While the one seed is already locked up for the conference tournament, the Gaels want to continue their positive momentum this week, as they head into the college basketball postseason.

GREATEST STRETCHES IN GAEL HISTORY
For the first time in program history, the Gaels are back-to-back-to-back WCC Regular Season Champs, including also first time back-to-back outright back-to-back WCC Regular Season Champs. While this feat is impressive in its own right, the even more impressive fact is how the Gaels have gotten better with each and every season in this stretch. In 2022-23, the Gaels shared the conference regular season title with Gonzaga, with both teams going 14-2, and splitting their regular season matchups. Last year, the Gaels won the conference by a one game margin over the Zags, locking the outright regular season title up in the second from the last game of the year. This year, however, the Gaels secured their outright conference regular season title with a full week remaining in the regular season, including their first sweep of Gonzaga, who currently sits in second, since the 2015-16 season. Over these past three seasons, the Gaels have amassed a 44-4 record in WCC play, still with two games to go. Their previous best three year WCC stretch came between 2015 and 2018, when they went 47-7. Currently at 15-1 in conference play, the Gaels have the chance to finish with their best WCC record ever. From 2014-15 to 2017-18 WCC teams played an 18 game conference season, with the Gaels best finishes coming in 2016-17 and 2017-18 when they went 16-2. With two wins this week, the Gaels would move to 17-1, a new program record in conference play.
SENIOR SALUTE
As Saturday's matchup will be the final home game of the 2024-25 season, it will be the final time that seniors Mitchell Saxen, Luke Barrett and Augustas Marciulionis play in front of their home crowd. Mitchell Saxen currently has played in 150 games as a Gael, tying him for the most all-time with former teammate Alex Ducas. His next contest will give him the outright record for most games ever played in a Gael uniform. He also has scored 1269 career points (19th all-time), ripped down 878 rebounds (5th all-time) and sent away 150 blocks (4th all-time). Luke Barrett began his Gael career as a walk-on, but worked his way onto scholarship in his third year with the program. Since then, he's gone from role player off the bench, to sixth man, to every day starter at the small forward position. This year, he leads the WCC in minutes played per game. Fourth year senior Augustas Marciulionis has proven himself to be one of the greatest point guards ever to wear a Gaels uniform on both sides of the basketball. In 132 games (10th most), he has scored 1141 points (28th all-time), 475 assists (7th all-time) and 140 steals (6th most). Only he and Mathew Dellavedova have scored 1000 points, 400 assists and 125 steals in their Saint Mary's careers.
ABOUT THE LIONS
After going on their first five WCC game winning streak since 1991, the LMU Lions have come back to earth, dropping five of their last seven to run their record to 16-13 and 8-9 in conference play. Currently occupying the sixth spot in the WCC by 1.5 games, the Lions will do everything they can to stay in that spot, as the difference between sixth and seventh place is an extra day off in the grueling WCC tournament. After a disappointing 12-19 campaign last year, Head Coach Stan Johnson does have his team back on the right track, as they have guaranteed themselves a better than 0.500 record at least through the WCC Tournament. This will mark Johnson's third winning season in five years at the helm. Like the Gaels, LMU has a well balanced attack, with six players averaging between 6.2 and 13.5 points per game, led by Utah Valley transfer Caleb Stone-Carrawell. In their previous meeting this season, Stone-Carrawell was the only double-digit scorer for the Lions, dropping 16 points on 6-8 shooting in a 81-56 loss to the Gaels in Moraga. The Gaels are 103-55 all-time against the Lions, with LMU's lone win against the Gaels since 2013 coming in overtime at Gersten Pavilion in the 2022-23 season.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
In their first year in the WCC, Oregon State still has the potential to finish anywhere between third and fifth place, with hopes of cracking the top and earning a bye through to the quarterfinals. Currently sitting at 20-9 overall and 10-6 in WCC play, they trail this play San Francisco by two games, and fourth place Santa Clara by just half a game. That said, it will be a tough hill to climb for the Beavs, who square off with San Francisco in their midweek game before getting a crack at the Gaels on Saturday. Now in year 11 at the helm, Head Coach Wayne Tinkle has coached his OSU squad to 20 wins for just the second time in his tenure, and needs just one more win to secure his winningest season ever as the Oregon State Head Coach. This year, the Beavs biggest impact player has been four man Michael Rataj. The Augsburg, Germany native ranks third in the conference, scoring 17.8 points per game, fourth in rebounding at 7.6 per game and second in steals at 1.69 per game. The Gaels, however, held him in check in their meeting at Gill Coliseum earlier this season, as he scored a season low three points in the 63-49 Gaels victory. Only Isaiah Sy off the bench got to double figures with a team-high 10. This will be just the sixth all-time meeting between the Gaels and Beavs, with Oregon State holding a narrow 3-2 lead on the series.
