A year ago in this very tournament, the Gaels went 4-0 with a pair of wins each against Marist and North Dakota State.

PICTURESQUE PITCHING
This past weekend at the Bulldog Classic, the Saint Mary's pitching staff combined for a stellar 1.87 ERA, with the quartet of Odhi Vasquez, Chelsea Bennett, Mia Nishikawa and Avrey Wolverton all appearing in two games over the five game Bulldog Classic. Nishikawa led the surge playing in her hometown of Fresno, going 1-0 in a pair of starts while holding a 1.35 ERA. Chelsea Bennett made a start and an appearance out of the pen, and held a solid 1.75 ERA through eight innings of work. Odhi Vasquez worked a pair of complete games going 1-1 and holding opposing batters to just 0.154 average while fanning a team-best six. Avrey Wolverton rounded out the group with an ERA of 3.00 and a strong opponents batting average of 0.222. The Gaels pitching has been stellar all season, with a team ERA of 3.06 through the first 23 games.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Dodging weather cancellations this season, Weber State has already gotten 24 games off this season, going 8-16 in that stead. Head Coach Kristin Delahoussaye is in her first year at the helm of Weber State, but served as an assistant on staff for the previous seven seasons. The offense has been explosive for the Wildcats this year, with four starters hitting 0.300 or better and five with 10 or more RBI. Leading the way for the Wildcats are the duo of Riley Whalen and Sadie Kirk, who have combined for 50 hits, 14 extra base hits, 32 runs scored and 29 RBI. Games for Weber State, however, have been extremely high scoring, as their pitching staff holds a combined ERA of 10.40. The Gaels lead the all-time series 5-3, but haven't seen them since 2012.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Ten games into their 2025 campaign, Columbia sits at 4-6 for the year. Now in her 10th season as the Head Coach of the Lions, Jennifer Teague has reached the 150 win mark, and will look to get the Lions with an above 0.500 finish for the first time since 2018. Sarah Mikami leads this year's Columbia team with 0.440 average, six runs scored and five extra base hits. The Lions pitching staff has been hit hard this season, with opponents batting 0.336 against them, however, they've kept the ball in the yard, with only one home run surrendered. This will be the second all-time meeting between the Gaels and Lions, with the Gaels taking the lone meeting 3-1 in 2022.
ABOUT THE CRIMSON
Harvard enters this tournament with a 5-4 start, but sat at 5-1 in the month of February before dropping three straight to open the month of March. In just her second season with Harvard, Head Coach Jenny Rohn is just 18 wins shy of 50, which would make her the first Crimson coach to win that many games in her first two seasons. A well balanced squad, Harvard has done some damage in the circle and some at the plate this year. Ace of the staff Riley Flynn has started four games, and come out of the pen for two more, holding a record of 1-1 with a team-low 2.67 ERA and a team-high 12 strikeouts. She will struggle to find the plate at times, averaging over a walk per innings, but her arsenal can keep batters off balance at the plate. Offensively, senior captain Savannah Fitzpatrick has come out of the gate hot, batting at 0.333 with more than half of her hits coming of the extra base variety. This matchup will represent the ninth all-time meeting between the Gaels and Crimson, with the Gaels leading the series 5-3. The two teams split a pair of contests back in 2022, the last time they squared off.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
It has been a less than stellar start for the Vikings of Portland State, who sit at 4-18 to open the 2025 campaign. Head Coach Meadow McWhorter, now in her ninth season in Portland, is just six wins shy of moving to second most all-time in program history, trailing only the legendary coach Teri Mariani, who helmed the Vikings for 29 seasons with 663 wins. Portland State has been led by a pair of seniors, Neveah Smith at the plate batting 0.303, and Grace Kimball in the circle, starting 11 games, with a 4.33 ERA and 34 strikeouts. The Vikings lead the all-time series 29-17, and are riding a five game winning streak against the Gaels.
