Box Score MORAGA, Calif. – Despite the match defeat it was all smiles for Saint Mary's as they honored and recognized their three seniors Saturday afternoon in
Olivia Rook,
Stefanie Silva and
Juliette Daries. 28th ranked Pepperdine grabbed the doubles point out of the gate and then took five of the six duals to clinch the match win.
Madison Weekley would get credit for the win in her singles match after Pepperdine's number five withdrew, forcing Liam Oved to move from the six spot into the five and take on Saint Mary's
Stefanie Silva. Seniors
Stefanie Silva and
Olivia Rook put up the toughest duals of the day, both taking their opponent to a deciding third set. Silva fell 6-1 in her third set to Oved while Rook fell in a thrilling tiebreaker, 8-10 to Alexia Harmon.
Silva and Rook were four-year seniors for the Gaels and stood as two of the top singles players this season, combining for an 18-10 record. Daries joined the program last season after transferring in from Cal State Fullerton and finished her senior season with a 5-9 singles record and was also a consistent doubles partner along with senior Silva.
The 28th ranked Waves improved to 5-1 in conference play and will compete in the WCC Tournament starting on Thursday, April 24th.
