SAN BRUNO, Calif. - On Thursday, August 7th, the 2025 WCC Women's Soccer Preseason coaches poll was announced with Saint Mary's earning 66 points for 7th place in the preseason poll and junior forward Sydney Middaugh being named to the preseason team for the first time in her SMC career.
Head coach Theresa Romagnolo and her squad have combined for 17 wins over the past two seasons and tied their program record for points in a conference season with 15 last year. As the conference continues to rise with the addition of Seattle U, Saint Mary's will also look to improve as one of the rising programs in the WCC.
Sydney Middaugh played in a career high 18 games in 2024 and was named to the All-WCC Second Team for her second all-conference selection of her career. Middaugh finished second on the team with four goals and also recorded a career high three assists good for eleven points on the season. Middaugh represents a deep returning class for the Gaels as they bring back 25 players from the 2024 squad and will be in prime position to make a run this season.
