MBB | Murauskas Earns Third WCC Player of the Week of the Season, Fourth of His Career
1/26/2026 10:01:00 AM | Men's Basketball
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — After leading the Gaels to a pair of victories over the WCC Oregon schools, Paulius Murauskas has been named the WCC Player of the Week. This is the third time this season, and fourth time in his career that Murauskas has earned this honor. The last Gael to win this award at least four times in his career was Jock Landale, who was named WCC Player of the Week seven total times in his illustrious career.
Murauskas opened his week by scoring 15 points in a 30 point thrashing of Oregon State. In just 26 minutes of play, the Kaunas, Lithuania native was extremely efficient, converting on 6-9 field goal attempts, while ripping down six boards in the victory. He followed that up by leading the Gaels with 24 points in a tightly contested 75-69 win on the road at Portland. This time, the junior demonstrated his physical brand of basketball, ripping down nine boards and drawing six fouls, leading to a perfect 9-9 clip at the stripe. Paulius also had a hand in the biggest play of the contest, connecting with Dillan Shaw with 15 seconds to go for a dagger three pointer to give the Gaels a two possession lead.
Murauskas will look to keep the momentum going, as the Gaels head to Spokane this weekend for a Saturday night clash with Gonzaga.
