SB | Ferguson’s Triumphant Return Home Earns Her WCC Player of the Week Honors
2/16/2026 1:01:00 PM | Softball
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — After missing the entire 2025 campaign due to injury, Hannah Ferguson returned to action in her home ballpark, Cottrell Field, for the first time since celebrating the program's first WCC Title in 2024. Not only did she return, but did so with authority, leading the Gaels with seven hits on the week in a three game sweep of CSUN. This is her second career WCC Player of the Week honor, and the first since her freshman season.
Ferguson kicked her big weekend off with three hits and two runs scored in the Gaels' 8-0 series-opening victory. She followed that up with two more hits, a double, and the first home run since her freshman season, to charge the Gaels to a 3-1 game two win, scoring two of the Gaels' three runs in that one. In the finale, Ferguson capped her near perfect week, with two more hits and two more runs scored in the Gaels' 9-0 run-rule rout of the Matadors to finish off the sweep. In total, Ferguson finished the week going 7-for-11 at the plate with six runs scored, and also showed off the wheels with three stolen bases on three attempts.
Ferguson and the Gaels will now head to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, where they will take on the likes of San Diego State, Hawaii, Washington, South Carolina and Long Beach State. The tournament will span from February 20 through 22 and can be streamed on FloCollege.
