HOUSTON — Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball completed the "Texas Two Step" on day two of the Third Coast Challenge, defeating host Houston Christian, 4-1, and Tarleton State, 3-2, to finish 3-1 at the season opening event.
GAME ONE: Saint Mary's 4, Houston Christian 1
The Gaels kicked off day two of the Third Coast Challenge by downing its hosts, the Houston Christian Huskies, 4-1. After splitting the twos and fours, the Gaels rattled off three straight wins from their ones, threes and fives to lock up their second victory of 2026. Alisia Silverthorn celebrated a win against her former team, pairing with Annah Legaspi to pick up win number one of the match for the Gaels, while the top flight of Nya Crump and Angelina Bour picked up their first win of the young season.
GAME TWO: Saint Mary's 3, Tarleton State 2
Again, the Gaels jumped ahead to a 1-0 lead after Silverthorn and Legaspi continued their hot streak as the dynamic newcomer duo. After the Texans drew level at one apiece, the duo of Hannah Couch/Isla Johnson pushed the Gaels back ahead, and Hannah Glick/Clarissa Klein clinched the Gaels third victory of the season. Klein made her second appearance in four matches, both with Glick, and picked up her first win of the season, the clinching point in the match.
The Gaels will bring their 3-1 record back to the Golden State for a pair of games at San Jose State, taking on the Pacific and the Spartans on Friday.
