MWP | Gaels Welcome Transfer Zander Ortiz Montoya to Men’s Water Polo

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's men's water polo has welcomed the newest addition to the program, Zander Ortiz Montoya, a transfer from Whittier College.
Montoya brings eleven years of water polo experience to Moraga, and joins the program after two seasons at Whittier College. During his time there, he tallied an impressive 128 goals and 68 assists. In the 2025, Montoya ranked second on the team with 73 goals, while in 2024 he was tied for first with 55. Following his freshman year, he was recognized as Whittier's Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year, and following his sophomore year, he was named to the All-SCIAC team. Montoya was a three year varsity standout at Damien High School in La Verne, leading the Spartans to back-to-back undefeated Baseline League titles as a junior and senior.
With his proven offensive success, Montoya will join the Gaels for the fall 2026 season as Saint Mary's continues to look to prepare for its first season.
