BSB | Jacob Johnson Becomes Third ABCA All-American in Program History

GREENSBORO, NC - The ABCA announced its 2026 Division I All-America teams on Friday where Saint Mary's DH, Jacob Johnson, was named ABCA All-America Second Team for just the third All-American in program history.
Johnson was a standout power bat in his first season as a Gael after transferring from Cuesta Junior College following the 2025 season. Johnson stormed onto the national scene with six home runs over his first seven games to sit among the NCAA leaders over the first two weeks of the season. The long ball may have cooled off a bit for the Danville native but he still hit for average, finishing the 2026 season with a .338 batting average, 71 hits, 15 doubles and 15 home runs for second most in the West Coast Conference.
Johnson had an electric finish to the 2026 season, hitting three home runs in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional including two homers and the game-winner in the regional opening win over No. 1 UCLA. Johnson finished the regional 6-for-15 with three home runs and four RBI as Saint Mary's made history, defeating No. 1 UCLA twice to single-handedly eliminate the Bruins and make the program's first ever regional final.
Johnson was named to the ABCA All-West Region First Team earlier this week and now becomes just the third ABCA All-American in program history. Two of the program's three All-American selections have come in back-to-back seasons as first baseman Eddie Madrigal was named ABCA Second Team All-America after the 2025 season where he set the single-season hit record and belted a team high 21 home runs. The program's first ever All-American came from Kyle Jensen back in 2008. Jensen hit a single-season record .421 for the Gaels with 13 home runs and 52 RBI, being named ABCA Second Team All-America.
