KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 2026 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy NCAA Division I preseason watch list was announced on Wednesday with Saint Mary's goalkeeper Kate Plachy named to the preseason list to represent one of 65 Division I women's soccer players selected.
Plachy finished the 2025 season as one of the top goalkeepers in the country. She ranked second in the West Coast Conference and 13th in the nation with a 0.61 Goals Against Average while also recording a conference high 12 shutouts, second most in a single-season in program history. Plachy became just the second Gael to win WCC Goalkeeper of the Year joining program great Taylor Poland who won the award in 2020. Additional accolades for the El Dorado Hills native included All-WCC First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team, one of four Gaels to earn all-region honors last season.
The full list of the 65 student-athletes named to the MAC Hermann preseason watch list can be found HERE or at unitedsoccercoahces.org.
Plachy was one of two Gaels named to the 2026 WCC All-Preseason Team earlier this month as Saint Mary's will kick off its 2026 campaign at Long Beach State later this evening at 7:00 p.m. The Gaels will end the opening week of NCAA women's soccer at home taking on Fresno State on Sunday, August 16 at 1:00 p.m.

About the MAC Herman Trophy…
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. It is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis, Mo., businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United States which became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 4 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced January 8, 2027, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
