Biography
AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2020): Started and played in all 11 matches (season played during spring of 2021) … named a WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention … played 90 or more minutes in 11 matches … had the second most minutes on the team (1,047) and led all field players … missed only 15 minutes from the entire year … helped the backline record four clean sheets … took two shots in the season opener against Sacramento State, both were on goal.
AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2019): Made an appearance in two contests for the Gaels … played a season-high 14 minutes against San Francisco … logged 25 total minutes of action.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2018): Did not appear in any matches for the Gaels...obtained a medical redshirt.
AS A FRESHMAN (2017): Played in 14 games in her first season as a Gael … made her debut off the bench in a 2-1 win over Fordham … appeared in 25 minutes of action versus Cal State Fullerton … recorded a season-high 37 minutes against Bakersfield.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S: During her time in high school, Buggs was a decorated multi-sport athlete who excelled at both soccer and track and field... On the pitch, she was awarded 1st and 2nd Team All-League honors and helped Vista Murrieta become league champions twice... Buggs also played for Legends FC and had experiences with the US Soccer Training Center and Nike Elite Player Development Training... She was also part of the Cal South Olympic Development Program (ODP)... Lydia plans to major in Kinesiology/Sports Medicine... She hopes to become an athletic trainer for professional teams while continuing to pursue becoming a sports physician.
