Husidic was hired in the summer of 2019 as an assistant coach in Cooper's staff and enters his second year with the program.
Saint Mary's will be Husidic's first stint in college coaching following a lengthy professional career. The former midfielder played 10 years of professional soccer including eight in Major League Soccer and two years in Sweden's top professional league, Allsvenskan, while playing for Hammarby Fotboll under current USA National Team head coach, Gregg Berhalter.
Husidic was drafted 20th overall in 2009 by the Chicago Fire out of the University of Illinois-Chicago and appeared in a total of 164 games between the Fire and Los Angeles Galaxy. He scored 14 goals and tallied 18 assists during his career and won the MLS Cup with Los Angeles in 2014.
In addition to his playing career, Husidic has previous coaching experience with the Venice Beach Football Club while working with a range of teams from U8 to U16. He also coached at the Kickers Soccer Club and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Bosnian.
