SMC California Athletics

AS A SENIOR (2021)
Indoor: Played in 12 matches during her senior season, including two starts...despite missing time, finished eighth on the team in digs with 48, and her 1.71 digs per set was fifth best on the team...had a big game at Cal on September 15 when she put up a season-best 21 digs (one off of her career-best), recorded five assists, and had two service aces, tying a season-best there as well...came in to serve during the final three matches of the year after most of conference play and recorded an ace in three-straight matches.

AS A JUNIOR (2020-21)
Indoor: Appeared in all 17 matches for SMC during her junior season, the first time she has played in every match in a season...finished fourth on the Gaels in service aces with 13...her 42 assists were third-best on the team, and best among non-setters...led Saint Mary's in digs with 164 and 2.98 digs per set...put up career-bests in every category in the second match against San Francisco, where she tallied 22 digs, eight assists, and three service aces...recorded 10+ digs in seven of eight matches from February 8-March 13.

Beach: Did not appear during the 2021 beach season.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20)
Indoor: Saw action in 19 matches and 63 sets for the Gaels in her second season...Collected 10 service aces over the course of the year including a season-high two against Cornell on September 13...Also recorded 14 digs and one assist.

Beach: Did not appear during the 2020 beach season.

AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19)
Indoor: Played in four matches and four sets during the 2018 season including Portland, Gonzaga, Pepperdine and San Francisco.

Beach: Did not participate in the 2019 Beach season as a freshman.

PRIOR TO SAINT MARY’S: Abby played for her JV high school volleyball team as a freshman and later that year got moved up to varsity for playoffs. She then played varsity the next three years at Oakdale high school. She won best defensive player her sophomore year and most valuable player her senior year. Her high school team won all-league up until her senior year. She received second team all-league as a sophomore and first team all-league as a senior.

What do you love most about SMC volleyball: My team. They are all like my sisters which I never had growing up (I grew up with two younger brothers (: )

Why did you choose the number 23: my dad was 23 when he played baseball in college at Cal Poly so I decided to do the same 

Favorite movie: 27 Dresses 

What is your favorite color: Lavender 

Personal hobbies: Kayaking, camping, and reading.

Favorite show: Grey’s Anatomy

What do you love most about Saint Mary’s: The campus has to be one of my favorite parts about Saint Mary’s. One of my favorite views is when I am driving onto campus facing the church and from the hiking spot at the cross (highly recommend it).
