AS A SENIOR (2021)
Indoor: Appeared in 24 matches on the year for the Gaels, missing three due to injury...set career-highs across the board and led the Gaels in kills with 219, finishing in the top-20 in the WCC...tied for the team lead with 2.52 kills per set (Elena Baka)...tied for third on the team with 20 aces and 174 digs...was sixth in blocks with 37...in 13 matches, Cowell recorded at least 10 kills, including a season-best 16 against Wyoming on August 28 and Portland on October 28...recorded six-straight matches with 10 or more kills from September 28 - October 28...had four matches with at least 10 digs, including 16 against Utah State on September 11, and three double-doubles...
AS A JUNIOR (2020-21)
Indoor: Started all 17 matches as a juinor at Saint Mary's, the most during her career...set career-bests across the board, starting with her 157 kills, which were second-most on the team...her 2.90 points per set were also good for second-best on the team...set a new career-best with 10 aces and was also strong at the net, where she recorded 29 total blocks on the year (2 solo, 27 assisted), the fourth-most for the Gaels...one of six Gaels with 100+ digs, where she recorded 116 for another career-best...six times she tallied 10+ kills, including 17 in her first game of the season against LMU, a career-best...three times, she had 10+ kills and digs in the same match...named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Beach: Paired up with All-WCC First Team member Elena Baka all season long and posted an 11-8 record, finishing with the third-most wins of any Gaels pair this season...played anywhere from the first to the fourth pairing, eventually finishing the season as the Gaels top pair...season-best nine wins came from the top pair spot...won two matches against ranked teams: #12 Stanford and #11 Pepperdine...finished the season with All-WCC Second Team honors for the first time in her career...named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2019-20)
Indoor: Saw action in seven matches and 11 sets during the 2019 season...Recorded 15 kills total including a season-high five against Utah State on September 14...Collected 16 digs, four block assists and an ace.
Beach: Appeared in all eight matches for the Gaels during the 2020 season…along with teammate Elena Baka, went 5-3 on the year, wining their final four matches of the season…owned the best record of any Gael pair in 2020…picked up the Gaels second set win of the year against No. 14 Grand Canyon on February 22…swept three matches in a row at the WCC/Big West Challenge on March 7…won their only conference bout against Santa Clara on March 10.
AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19)
Indoor:
Did not play during her freshman season with the Gaels.
Beach: Went 20-9 during her first season with the beach team ... Played the first half of the season with Selbie Christensen (11-5) before switching midway to play with Jennifer "Boo" Laird (9-4) ... Took a win early in the season against No. 11 ranked Stanford with Christensen before beating them again when they were ranked No. 20 with Laird ... Helped the Gaels achieve third place at the WCC Championships.
PRIOR TO SAINT MARY’S: Cowell was a four-year letter winner at King Kekaulike High School in Kula, Hawaii (a city on the island of Maui), earning accolades such as: All-State Fab 15 (#8), All-Hawaii First Team (#3) and the All-State Tournament Team in 2016…Cowell was named to the Maui Interscholastic First Team (MIL) for three straight years (2015-17), competed at the varsity level for four years and was a varsity starter and captain for three years…Her high school team was crowned Maui Interscholastic League Champions for three consecutive years (2014-16) and placed fourth at the State Tournament in 2016.
