Two double-doubles this week for Ali Bamberger made her a lock for the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week Award for the week of January 17.
Bamberger was a perfect 9 for 9 from the field in a win against San Francisco with 22 points and 11 rebounds. That was after 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Pepperdine.
It was her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season and 15th as a Gael. She’s had a dozen other games at SMC where she has been one rebound or one basket away from a double-double as well.
The Walnut Creek native is averaging 15.7 points per game which is good for sixth in the conference, and she is second in the WCC in rebounds per game at 8.5. Her 1.2 blocks per game are also good for second in the WCC.
The redshirt junior eclipsed the 500-rebound mark in her NCAA career during the Pepperdine game, and now has 513 career boards, including her 71 rebounds as a Washington Husky.
