Berkeley, CA - The Saint Mary's men's soccer team (1-3-1) fell to the California Bears (2-2-1), 4-0, on Friday, September 13 on the first day of the California Tournament.
The Bears wasted no time getting on the board as Pat Fisher found the net from six yards out from goal to give Cal a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same at the end of the first half.
Cal would increase their lead at the 51:22 minute mark when Pieter Berger made a clean pass to Carl Acosta to give the Bears a comfortable lead at 2-0. The Bears would score again; this time it was Mike Munoz who had a wide-open look thanks to an assist by Calen Carr at the 60:00 minute mark. Berger later scored a goal of his own at the 68:12 minute mark increasing the lead to 4-0. Angel Quintero earned the assist.
The Gaels will continue the California Tournament on Sunday, September 15 when they host the #1 Stanford Cardinal. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM. This is the second game of the double-header as the women host #11 California at Noon.
