
Women's Tennis improves to 10-0

San Diego, CA - The Saint Mary's women's tennis team competed in their tenth match of the year on Friday in San Diego. The Gaels defeated San Diego 5-2.
The competition got underway with doubles matches. Aude Lambert and Erin Young were up 5-0 when their opponents retired. Nienke Strijbis and Femke Strijbis won their doubles match 8-2. The twins won their eight straight doubles match and have yet to let their opposition record more than four points. Marah Calvo and Stef Ordoveza also won their doubles match 8-2 as well.
Calvo won her singles match 6-2, 6-1. Calvo won her tenth straight match and has yet to lose a singles match while wearing a Gael uniform. She has won eight consecutive matches in straight sets.
Femke Strijbis won her singles match in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. USD's Sophia Vogt defaulted her match giving the Gaels another point. Erin Young and Feline Charlot both lost their matches in two sets.
The Gaels had already won the competition when Lambert was still playing her match. Lambert defeated her competition in a tiebreaker, wining 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4). This gave the Gaels their fifth point and the final score of 5-2.
The Gaels will return to action tomorrow when they face the No. 40 Penn Quakers.
