No. 60 Women's Tennis Tops San Francisco, 4-2

San Francisco, CA – The No. 60 Saint Mary's women's tennis team overcame the weather Sunday afternoon, defeating San Francisco 4-2 while playing on the road. The match was delayed due to wet conditions, forcing the cancellation of doubles play and leaving the match up to singles competition.
Courts three through six earned all the points in the match for the Gaels, as each defeating their opponents in singles play. Freshman Anna Chikhikvishvili started things off for Saint Mary's, easily defeating the Dons' Cecilia Gratian, 6-1, 6-3 at the three spot. Senior Erin Young did some damage of her own on court six, topping Alana McMahon, 6-4, 6-4. Fellow senior Marah Calvo earned the victory at the No. 5 position, 6-4, 7-6, and junior Nienke Strijbis clinched the win with the only three-set win of the day, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
The Gaels return to action at the Korth Tennis Complex this weekend, hosting the Pacific Tigers on Saturday, February 14 at 1:00 PM.
